Focused View is one of the more interesting ways to watch lyrics in PlanetMusic. You can pick it under Lyrics View Modes on the song panel, next to Live and Plain Text.
Live View scrolls vertically like traditional karaoke. Focused View puts the main lyric right in the center of the screen instead. Background vocals and echoes get their own timing and their own place on the screen, so they never sit on top of the main line.
1. How ad-libs find their spot
When a secondary artist sings an ad-lib, PlanetMusic has to decide where on the screen to put it.
First it works out how much room is taken up by the main lyric, the artist name in the background, and the edges of the screen. Then it looks for the biggest open area that’s left and places the ad-lib there, so it never lands on top of anything.
2. Songs with lots of singers
If a song has a big group singing at once, the screen is divided into a grid and every singer gets their own spot in it. For five singers, for example, the grid is five across and two down.
The singers aren’t placed in the same order on every row. The top row goes 1 2 3 4 5, and the bottom row shifts to 2 3 4 5 1. That way singers aren’t stacked directly on top of each other, and nothing overlaps.
Give each vocal its own timing
Focused View uses the main line as its anchor and renders active secondary parts around it. Split and time ad-libs in the Sync Workspace so their appearances follow the recording rather than the full parent line. Keep the lyric text and singer tags accurate too: timing determines when a part is active, while the artist attribution and style determine how it is presented.
When placement feels crowded, check whether two ad-libs overlap in time and whether the main line or singer label occupies much of the screen. The layout adapts to the active lyric and available display space; it is not a fixed left-to-right karaoke track. Try a smaller Floating Adlib Font Size in Settings if your display is narrow.
