The player plays audio alongside your synced lyrics. The audio can come from YouTube, Deezer, or a file on your own device.
This post covers how to set up your audio.
1. Playback controls
- Play / Pause: Click the button on the bottom player bar or the control panel.
- Spacebar: Press it at any time to toggle playback.
- Progress bar: Click anywhere along it to jump to that part of the song.
2. Choosing a source
In the Play Music From section of the song panel, you’ll find a row of buttons, one for each audio source. Pick a source there, and click a different one whenever you want to switch.
You can paste YouTube Music URLs and full Deezer web addresses as links.
3. Local audio files
You can also play audio from a file on your device. Supported formats are .mp3, .wav, and .m4a. Local files start playing immediately, with no network buffering.
4. Match the song duration
Before you pick or paste an audio source, check the Duration in the track details at the top of the song panel.
CHECK THE DURATION: The track length is listed under Duration in the track details. Pick audio that matches it.
Songs often come in several versions, so choose a file or link with the exact same length as the Duration shown. If your audio is shorter or longer, your line timestamps will drift out of sync with the music.
5. Formatting Deezer links
The mobile and desktop share links from Deezer won’t work in the player. They’re shortened share links, not full web addresses.
CRITICAL DEEZER WORKFLOW: Open the shortened share link in a browser tab first to get the full web address, then paste that instead.
Step by step
1. In Deezer, click Share on the song and choose Copy Link.
2. Open a new browser tab, paste the share link into the address bar, and press Enter.
3. Wait a second for the page to finish loading so the full address shows up.
4. Copy that full URL from the address bar and paste it into the player field.
Check a source before syncing
Catalog search results describe tracks; they do not guarantee every source is playable in every region or account setup. Choose an available source in the song panel, then listen from the beginning and compare its version, length, and intro with the selected track before relying on saved timings. A live version, remaster, or radio edit can drift even when its title looks nearly identical.
Local files are attached to the saved track in this browser. Deezer playback may require a valid ARL in Settings, while YouTube playback uses the embedded player. If you change a source and the timings no longer feel right, try a better-matching recording or adjust the sync for that version.
