In Live and Focused lyrics view, the background crossfades between artist photos depending on who’s singing at that moment.
By default, the app fetches artist images from Wikipedia. Sometimes Wikipedia doesn’t have a great photo, or you’d rather use the look of a specific era. That’s what the Image Manager is for.
1. Opening the Image Manager
Open any saved song in your Vault that has lyrics and click Manage Artists on the left panel.
You’ll see a list of every singer detected in your lyrics, based on your section headers and ad-lib tags.
2. Setting images and colors
- Image URLs: Paste a direct image link (one ending in .jpg, .png, and so on) into the artist’s text field. A URL is all it needs. High-definition square images work best.
- Artist Colors: Click the color swatch next to an artist’s name to give them their own text color.
Images and colors apply globally. If you set an image for an artist in one song, that same image and color gets used in every song in your Vault that features them. You only have to do it once.
3. Finding good images
Clicking an artist’s name in the manager opens a DuckDuckGo image search for high-resolution square images. Right-click an image you like, choose “Copy Image Address”, and paste it into the app.
Understand global profiles and song overrides
The Image Manager starts with singers detected from the open song’s lyrics. When you save changes, artist images and colors are added to the browser-wide profile so the same artist can be recognized in other songs. The current song also stores its artist image and color values; those track-specific values can take precedence for that song, while the global profile supplies reusable defaults elsewhere.
Use a direct image URL that loads in a browser, preview it, and check the result in both Live and Focused views. A host may block embedding, remove an image, or require a login, so the URL can stop working later. The app can fall back to a fetched artist image or the track artwork when no custom image is available.
