Welcome to PlanetMusic: Your Personal Vault

#Welcome#Vault#Basics

Everyone listens to music differently. That’s why I built PlanetMusic as a personal, customizable music player and lyrics app that keeps everything in your own browser.

Unlike cloud services, your saved songs and settings stay on your own device.

1. The Cosmos and the Vault

When you use the search bar, PlanetMusic pulls results from the Cosmos, which is how PlanetMusic connects to the public iTunes and Deezer music catalogs. When you find a track you like, click Add to Vault in the player modal.

Once a song is in your Vault, it’s saved in your browser. From there you can edit its info, give artists high-resolution images, upload local MP3s, or rewrite the lyrics completely.

PRO TIP: Since everything is saved on your device, export a JSON backup of your Vault every now and then. The download icon in the top right corner does it. The backup covers your text data (lyrics, timings, settings), not your uploaded MP3s, so back up often.

2. No accounts

There are no usernames, passwords, or cloud accounts. Just start searching the Cosmos and build your library.

A good place to start

Think of the Cosmos as the discovery side and the Vault as your saved collection. Searching can bring back catalog information from online music services; saving a result makes it part of your browser’s library so you can return to its lyrics, notes, and audio choices. Search access still depends on your network and the external catalog, while already saved text and settings are stored locally.

If you are trying the app for the first time, save a track, open its song panel, and explore the lyrics and source controls before customizing it. Back up the Vault before clearing browser data or moving to another browser profile; local storage does not automatically follow you between devices.
